Cheers to the Real Deal!
March, 2015 -- We were honored to have Elmer Lucille Allen, a renowned artist and Brown-Forman's first African American chemist, attend our original show, Bourbon Babes of the Bluegrass, in March. The play -- a special eve-vent in celebration of Womens' History Month -- was a tribute to the Kentucky women (including Ms. Allen!) who breathed life into the bourbon industry. Ms. Allen, fourth from left, is pictured with the cast of Bourbon Babes: Kate Scinta as Catherine Spears Frye Carpenter; Kim Butterweck as Carrie Nation; Diane Stretz-Thurmond as Mary Murphy Dowling; Hazel Bartlett as Elmer Lucille Allen; Susan McNeese Lynch, who wrote the play and performed as Mary Myers Beam; Kate Larken, director and as Maggie Bailey; and Gilmer McCormick as Marge Samuels. Not pictured but much appreciated are stage manager Anna Neikirk and box office manager Michelle Seiffertt.
