“Women’s Words: Sharing Her-stories”
A celebration of regional women writers and a salute to women writing their own histories

Purpose of project: to develop a script of 7-10 monologues significantly based on poetry, memoir,and creative non-fiction as part of a multi-performance celebration of Women’s History Month, March 2020. We want our audience to think about and be encouraged to write down some of their own “her-stories.”

Purpose of project: to develop a script of 7-10 monologues significantly based on poetry, memoir,and creative non-fiction as part of a multi-performance celebration of Women’s History Month, March 2020. We want our audience to think about and be encouraged to write down some of their own “her-stories.”
Eligibility:
- Women writers living and working within the Ohio River Valley (Pittsburgh, PA to Cairo, IL) to provide a geographical focus
- Women-oriented stories highlighting important life events and choices that reveal a range of emotions and put the viewer/reader in a specific time and place
- It should be understood that selected submissions will likely be edited for time and performance practicalities. Authors will retain full rights to their original work while allowing Eve Theatre the right to perform the theatrically revised version. Authors will be able to review finished scripts.
Guidelines:
- Submit one prose manuscript or three poems
- Prose submissions not to exceed 2,000 words
- Submissions must be cut and pasted into an email; no attachments will be accepted
- Previously published works will be considered
- Submission constitutes the right to adapt the piece for performance and to be part of a theatrical performance script and schedule
- Include a brief introduction of yourself and your reason for writing your submission; no more than 300 words
- Selected authors will be encouraged to meet the producers and actresses involved in creating the final production; will be featured in all of the production’s public relations and marketing materials; will be introduced when attending performances; and will be welcome to promote books and other writing achievements in a designated area prior to performances
